Preparation for the visit of the Animal Clinic
How to prepare for a visit to Veterinary Hospital Animal Clinic International?
When planning a visit to a veterinary clinic for examination or biomaterial for analysis, you need to prepare your pet properly. You can come to Veterinary Hospital Animal Clinic International any day to give a biomaterial or have it taken by a veterinarian. All tests are performed on an empty stomach!
Blood test
To exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend that you follow these rules for preparing your pet:
- 6-12 hours of fasting before blood donation. A small amount of water is allowed.
- Do not take any medications. If it is impossible to do without them, you should inform the veterinarian who will take the blood sample.
Urine analysis
- Only the first morning portion can be collected.
- Urine is collected in a plastic disposable container.
Fecal analysis
- Collect feces in a special disposable plastic container. The biomaterial should be no more than 1/3 of the container's volume.
- Deliver it to the laboratory as soon as possible, as the result may be distorted due to prolonged storage: under the influence of enzymes and microbes.
When taking feces for 2 tests at the same time: for the detection of helminth eggs and a coprogram, you can put the material in one container.
Bacteriological tests
Nasal swab
- The material is taken before antibacterial, immunobiological and antifungal therapy.
- To track the dynamics of treatment without the use of immunobiological drugs, the test should be taken in 5-7 days, with immunobiological drugs - in 2 weeks.
Background culture of the eye
- Cancel the use of all medications and any procedures 6-8 hours before the collection of the material, i.e. at night.
- Do not wash the pet's eyes before taking the biomaterial.
Discharge from the outer ear
- The material is taken before treatment with antibacterial, immunobiological and antifungal agents.
- If it is necessary to check the effectiveness of treatment after the end of the course, if no immunobiological drugs were prescribed, the analysis is performed in 5-7 days. If immunobiological preparations were used, at least 2 weeks later.
Smear from the pharynx (throat)
- It is done before treatment with antibacterial, immunobiological or antifungal drugs.
- It is taken on an empty stomach.
- To track the dynamics of treatment without immunobiological drugs, the test can be taken 5-7 days after the end of the course. If immunobiological drugs were given to the animal, a smear from the pharynx can be taken in 2 weeks after the course is completed.
Endoscopic diagnostics
Colonoscopy
- Eliminate excess gas with special medications.
- Give them to the animal 24-48 hours before the examination.
Be prepared for the veterinarian to examine your pet before the colonoscopy. If the intestines are not cleansed, an enema will be required.
Gastroscopy
- An 8-hour fasting diet is required to examine the walls of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum with an endoscope.
- In addition, biochemical and clinical blood tests should be taken to collect anamnesis.
With these simple steps, you can help ensure reliable diagnostic results.
