Expanded possibilities for examining the animal's ear

Examining a pet's ear canal is difficult because it is L-shaped. Standard otoscopes used in Los Angeles veterinary clinics do not allow visual access to the eardrum. But if an otoscope is used, diagnosing the patient's ear is easy and provides maximum information.

With this endoscopic device, our veterinary specialists can evaluate the condition of the external auditory canal as well as the eardrum.

When is otoscopy performed and what can be detected?

You should take your pet for an otoscopy if he has ear discharges, hearing loss, pain when he touches the ears, shakes his head, scratches his ears and his ears look uncomfortable. Otoscopy makes it possible to detect:

    • An infectious ailment.
    • A foreign body (usually a piece of absorbent cotton, insect, small debris, etc.).
    • Inflammation of the middle ear and tympanic cavity.
    • A hole in the eardrum.

After determining the exact location of the pathology, a Veterinary Hospital Animal Clinic International professional will prescribe the appropriate treatment. If a foreign object is lodged in the ear, it will be removed minimally invasively - endoscopically.
